Analysis of NCCN-distress thermometer in patients with ovarian cancer: results of 150 patients prior to cytoreductive ovarian cancer surgery

This analysis aimed to describe the psychological stress in patients with ovarian cancer prior radical surgery, a particular focus on age. The National Comperhensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Distress Thermometer (DT) was administered 150 women undergoing surgery for last week surgery. We compared our data, which is subanalysis from “Role of Predictive Markers Severe Postoperative Complications Gynecological Surgery” (RISC-Gyn)-Trial multicenter epidemiological study as control group, including 1913 female Germany. Overall, were enrolled, 126 (82.4%) advanced-stage disease International Federation Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO III–IV), 55 (37%) ≥65 years. Younger reported more fears, worries, sadness wished be involved treatment decisions. Worries three times frequently by university degree. These had emotional problems such sadness, nervousness than group. Sustainable support professional advice school, work, financial management could help reduce their factors especially younger under age 65. Empowering involving them decisions seems one crucial issues we need address future clinical work.
